The restaurant is situated in Studioplex’s SPX Alley[2], at 661 Auburn Avenue Northeast.

It is the second-ever location for Hawkers Asian Street Fare outside of Florida where there are five existing outposts. The other non-Florida restaurant is in North Carolina.

Co-founders Kaleb Harrell, Allen Lo, Wayne Yung, and Kin Ho, named the restaurant after street food vendors they encountered in Asia.

“These vendors are famous for hollering at passersby to hawk their small plates traditionally cooked using locally grown ingredients,” according to a press release Thursday.

Hawkers Asian Street Fare serves “from-scratch” small plates, craft cocktails, local beer, wine, and sake.

Dishes are seasonal with a few mainstays such as Roti Canai (Row-Tee Can-Eye), an Asian flatbread paired with Hawkers’ signature curry sauce, Pad Thai, Yi Yi’s Chicken Dumplings, and Miso Pork Belly Ramen.

Most of the dishes come from family recipes passed down from Hawkers Chef/Co-Founder, Allen Lo, who has worked closely with Executive Chef Travis Collum, formerly of Fifth Group Restaurants.

“Being part of a team opening a new concept in Atlanta—a city with culinary dominance, and my home town—is incredibly motivating,” Collum said in the release.

“I thrive on the energy of working and teaching in a kitchen environment. The Atlanta BeltLine is a sweet spot for me too–completely chill, yet with a strong buzz.”

Hawkers collaborated with Atlanta architecture and interior design firm, Studio SOGO, to install some first-time features for the group such as a graffiti mural installation inspired by the Krog Street Tunnel.

A custom poster wall, crafted with more than 1,000 hand-designed posters by Hawkers Senior Art Director, Adam Smajstrla, are hung vertically climbing the wall from smallest to largest, commonly seen in many Asian cities.

The 4,535-square-foot restaurant features individual and communal dining.

“The first time we visited Atlanta, we knew we wanted to be part of the Atlanta Beltline,” Kaleb Harrell, co-founder and CEO of Hawkers Asian Street Fare, said in the release.

“The food, the vibe, the crowd; it’s a completely energizing atmosphere, and we immediately felt at home…”
